5 to 10 minutes would be okay but the longer you stay in the position the better. Staying in the pose for as long as 30 minutes is not uncommon. If your back goes out you can get amazing release by going to the V, and using your hands to move your legs deeper into the stretch. Here are a couple of pictures to show how to get in and out of the pose.
2. then…
Then slowly turn in such a way that you keep your butt close to the wall.
3. notice the hand position
After bringing you legs up, Practice using your hands on your thighs to adjust your legs, pushing on them(just like picture above) to test your abilities and to take pressure away from your hips towards the wall.
4. quick view
Once in a V pose, use your hands to lift and lower your legs a few times(to and from the floor) to test your abilities. lowering and lifting and pushing your legs on the wall with your hands will also help find your thresholds.
Hepful Notes
Butt tuct into the corner of the wall and the floor
Legs up against the wall into a “V”
Lower and lift legs on the wall with your Hands to find your thresholds, noticing how far your feet are from the floor on the wall.
Once there, press your hands hard into your theighs close to your hip joints to separate the leg bone from the hip bone(creating space)
After a while do the same procedure again but finding your new threshold. Each time you do it you will notice that your feet are a tad bit closer to the floor on the wall.
