Active Isolated Stretching

The Golgi tendons which are proment in muscle and fascia are the organ mechanism that transmits brain impulses to fire a contraction; they are pressure sensitive sensors. If muscles reach a
point of restriction or tension for any reason these sensors activate the muscles in opposition to those muscles and fascia that have been lengthened further than the pattern which is acceptable to them as a result of homeostasis

Fascial patterns develop which can restrict mobility to protect a joint for many different reasons, i.e. Trigger Points, but the mechanism for function is always the same.

These videos below show how to most effectively re-pattern fascia and muscle tissues. Teaching the brain and body part to work together to maximize function.

The clue to look for is the amount time between each stretch, full range repetitions of approx 2 seconds at approximately 10oz of pressure of isolated tissue; with these amounts the sensors activate and therefore, very likely imprinting an new intentional   pattern. As well, cleansing spent oxygen, vitamins and minerals to make way for replenishing all the tissues efficiently.

At the same time that we are empowering our mind body connection with this “Active Isolated Stretching”, the system very effectively cleanses tissues of lactic acid and inflammation. And, because we only use our own strength or 10oz of pressure it is significant to note that these principals should be applied, in all cases, no matter how restrictive or severe in; an injury, athletic training, or general health, young or old.
